Mrs. Evelyn Lilio-Satele

Evelyn B. Lili0-Satele is a dedicated educator and community leader with a lifelong passion for teaching, literacy, and cultural preservation. Her academic journey began at Averett College in Virginia before earning a Bachelor of Science from Northern Arizona University in 1976. She later pursued a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University in 2001, solidifying her expertise in shaping educational policies and programs.

Ms. Lilio has dedicated over four decades to education in American Samoa. She began her career as an elementary school teacher (1980-1991) before serving as an English Specialist in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (1991-1996). Her leadership roles include Principal of Pago Pago Elementary School (1996-2000) and Principal of Le’atele Elementary School (2000-present). Her commitment to academic excellence earned her recognition as the 1986 Teacher of the Year and a nominee for the Presidential Award for Excellence.

Beyond her administrative roles, Ms. Lilio has contributed significantly to literacy programs, teacher training, and curriculum development. She is a CRISS Certified Trainer and the founder of Expressions, a collection of writings by the youth of American Samoa. She also initiated and continues to coordinate the annual Territorial Spelling Bee.

A strong advocate for the arts and culture, Ms. Lilio developed the first elementary ukulele band in American Samoa and has supported children’s theater productions. An avid traveler and athlete, she has captained the Mamalu O Le Vasa Canoe Club for over a decade, competing internationally.

She remains an active member of the Pago Pago Yacht Club and the Lions Club of Pago Pago, serving as a board member in both organizations.

Evelyn is proud to continue her legacy of education and leadership in American Samoa, where she is thrilled to be back in the home of the Dolphins!
